Tracey Emin Beach Towel
This Tracey Emin towel is part of Art Production Fund’s WOW (Works on Whatever). A unique collection of everyday items designed by artists. APF invites artists to experiment with the latest commercial materials and techniques to bring art off the walls and into homes as everyday objects. WOW introduces contemporary art to a larger community with revenues from sales supporting our non-profit mission. WOW works conceptually with APF’s program of expanding art audiences and helps fund public art!
Tracey Emin is part of a group of British artists often know as the YBAs. Her work takes many different forms including needlework, sculpture, drawing, video, installation, photography and painting. The image for this towel was taken from her short film Reincarnation. Reincarnation features a stray dog interspersed with phrases in her signature handwriting and is ground-breaking in the way it combines three important aspects of her artwork, drawing, film and her use of text. The artist encountered the dog on a Cypriot beach not far from her father's home there and proceeded to film him as he lay on the beach while waves crash in the background.
The Standard Spa, Miami Beach is a proud sponsor of this series at Art Basel Miami every year. Towels are 100% cotton, 60” x 70” and are made in Brazil.
